Some new wearables / healthtech

Firstly there is Ozmo https://www.ozmo.io a drink bottle that measures your fluid intake. Seems like a good idea as it can connect to a variety of different other wearables but weighing in at $70 it’s not cheap (especially as I have a habit of leaving these things behind).

Next there is Heart-In http://heartin.net/heartin.html

Not a great website but looks interesting. Unfortunately, the product is not that different from lots of others and I can’t work out how it is differentiated.

Finally there is pulmaware by strados Labs. http://www.stradoslabsllc.com.

This one looks the most interesting and unique of the lot. The website is clear and the product something that most asthma patients will understand.

This one definitely gets my pick if the week and if I had lung disease I would strongly consider getting it.

Nasoendoscopy the future of gastroscopy?

Fuji definitely think so with this addition brought to the UK market by Aquilant. No sedation, only one nurse and can be done standing up. Seems like a win win to me from a diagnostic point of view but no role in therapeutics yet.

Probiotics everywhere

Loads of them.  Evidence variable. As long as they are cheaper than VSL#3 and they have evidence for them it’s a buyers choice but we still don’t know enough to make stronger recommendations except in certain circumstances.

New GOJ stents

wp-1466601985018.jpgThis is a new stent for the GOJ. Can be used in both benign and malignant disease. But is it just like all the others which migrate?

This one is designed for variceal bleeds as a second line therapy instead of sengstaken. Of the two I think this one is more interesting.

Is this an alternative future for IBD treatment?

Data from the ART trial interesting associated set up costs similar to infliximab. This could be useful in patients with refractory IBD

The clip to eat all others?

http://www.ovesco. Mega Clip – interesting. At BSG 2016 seems to be useful for removing large lesions and stopping large bleeds but it’s so beastly you might bite off more than you bargained for
